Just a quick note to let everyone know that they can get updates from Tom’s family by visiting https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tommartinez
If you are looking for an opportunity to help out Lynn and their children with meals, you can sign up at https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/olz5md
The GoFundMe page has been set up soon to help the family financially. It is at https://gofundme.com/tom-martinez-family There are also links available at the CaringBridge site, and our council webpage.
Most importantly, pray for Tom and his family! St. Lucy is the patron saint for eyes and asking for the intercession of Fr. McGivney is always appropriate.
We will be selling the tickets to this year’s Knights Ultrasound Fundraising Event, “Cheers to Life” again this weekend (Feb 20-21) after all masses. I know we have the pancake breakfast as well so a lot of activity however it is a great opportunity for us to be in front of the parish for the cause. As a reminder, the event is being held on April 23rd from 6:30 to 9pm in the OLF school gymnasium and the cost remains at $45 per ticket. As in the previous weekend, we will need assistance selling tickets after all the masses until we reach our goal of selling 250 tickets. It is our most ambitious event to date however we are encouraged by the tremendous results last year, and we are called by the Holy Spirit to continue our efforts in support of respecting the sanctity of life in all of its stages.
We will need brothers to man the sales table after all masses for the weekend of Feb 20-21. This year we will also be accepting credit cards using the “Square” on iPhones and iPads. Please contact Br. Ritchey if you will be able to assist after masses this weekend. Woody will be at all the masses in support of the sales. Thanks in advance all you do to make “Cheers to Life!” such a terrific event.
Our council’s annual KCIC dinner will be held after the 5 pm Mass on Saturday, December 5th. We would love to see every member of our council there!
Brother knights are encouraged to bring a side or salad to share. We already have volunteers bringing turkey, ham, and mashed potatoes with gravy.
I am assured that St. Nick will be making his annual appearance. PLEASE NOTE: Unlike in previous years, St. Nick will NOT be distributing gifts from families to the children! He will distribute traditional symbols of his ministry to every child present, and be available for photos.
Here is a nice story about how one of the organizations that is supported by our council is being recognized for their efforts to help some of the neediest among us.
Jack’s Restuarant and Steamers Coffeehouse have been beneficiaries of our work on the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities for 2 years now. Congratulations to them!
GREAT NEWS! Life Choices in Westminster has met all requirements and the grant application has been completed and sent by the State Deputy to the Supreme Council for their action. We are expecting to have a reply from Supreme before the end of the year. The application was submitted listing Council #9597 as the sole sponsor of the ultrasound machine. The requested ultrasound machine is an Alpinion E-CUBE-7. More details will be announced at the November business meeting.
The state ultrasound initiative director, brother knight Michael Beiriger, thanks Council #9597 for their commitment to the preservation of the lives of God’s unborn children through their sponsorship of this ultrasound machine for Life Choices. Thank you!
I just received word that our brothers at Council 3799 will be distributing coats (including those our council purchased) on Monday, Oct. 26th, after school (about 2:30) from the school kitchen. Anyone who can be there to help will be welcome.
As we’ve been reminded many times, “Charity does not consist of gifts of money alone!” We are called to bring our faith and charity to life; to be the hands of Christ, doing His work, in our communities. If you can be there, take some pictures, and I’ll send them along to the State Council people for posting on their Facebook page and in The Knights Call.
Thanks for all you do; your generous hearts never fail to lift me up!
