July 2015 Knight of the Month-Don Frevert

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Don Frevert the July 2015 Knight of the Month for a willingness to sacrifice himself to move our council forward.  3rd Degree Knight Don Frevert has accepted the role as Council Recorder, despite being told that it’s “the worst job in the council.” Bringing new energy and ideas to Council 9597, along with a wealth of experience, Don has embraced this new role and provided important leadership. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Don lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Don is a worthy recipient of this honor.

June 2015 Knight of the Month-Chris Klispie

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Chris Klispie the June 2015 Knight of the Month for a history of efforts to move our council forward.  1st Degree Knight Chris Klispie has provided the Council invaluable service even before joining the council, being one of the primary kitchen forces at the annual beer pairing dinner, as well as a new member of the Knights. Bringing new energy and ideas to Council 9597, Chris has embraced his role and actively participated. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Chris lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Chris is a worthy recipient of this honor.

April 2015 Knight of the Month-Woody Ritchie

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Woody Ritchey the April 2015 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  3rd Degree Knight Woody Ritchey has provided the Council invaluable service in leading the Beer Pairing Dinner Committee. His leadership insured that everyone knew their responsibilities and kept on task. Additionally, he and his lovely wife are actively involved in our parish including serving on parish council and on the Respect Life Committee. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Woody lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Woody is a worthy recipient of this honor.

March 2015 Knight of the Month-Pete Zuniga

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Pete Zuniga the March 2015 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  Brother Knight Pete Zuniga has provided the Council invaluable service by serving as a Trustee of the council, and serving in other offices, including Grand Knight in the past. He is tireless in his support of our council as evidenced by his leadership with the essay contest and his terrific work at every one of our Pancake breakfasts. He is a wonderful example of Knights in action. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Pete lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Pete is a worthy recipient of this honor.

February 2015 Knight of the Month-Mike Daly

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Mike Daly the February 2015 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  Brother Knight Mike Daly has provided the Council invaluable service by elevating the spiritual enrichment elements as Lecturer. Not only is Brother Mike studying for the permanent deaconate, and raising a great family but he still manages to find time to assist with council programs like the pancake breakfast and annual beer pairing dinner. He also is willing to step up whenever I’m short a nomination for KotM! For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Mike lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Mike is a worthy recipient of this honor

January 2015 Knight of the Month-Pete Aberle

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Peter Aberle the January 2015 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  Sir Knight Peter Aberle has provided the Council invaluable service in almost every program the council offers. Not only does Brother Peter collect funds at monthly pancake breakfasts, but also leads efforts to keep our sponsored stretch of 15th Pl. nice and tidy year round. He insures that the councils “Keep Christ in Christmas sign is properly installed (and removed) in a timely manner, and provides a main course for the KCiC dinner. He’s been a long time leader of the council serving in almost every office during his 61 year tenure. Ultimately, he is the “living history” of our council, a great source of institutional memory, and a model for every Knight in the council. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Pete lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Peter is a worthy recipient of this honor.

December 2014 Knight of the Month-Marcus Ritosa

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Marcus Ritosa the December 2014 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  3rd Degree Knight Marcus Ritosa has provided the Council invaluable service in taking on the duties of editor for the council newsletter. Not only does Brother Marcus collect and layout a wide variety of materials collected from a slew of council officers, but he also manages the electronic distribution of the newsletter. He has consistently taken an avalanche of words, and turned it into an attractively presented, neatly organized, tool for better communication to brothers who don’t normally attend meetings. Additionally, he and his lovely wife are actively involved in our parishes confirmation preparation program, and generously volunteered time to raise funds for WYD pilgrims at a Colorado Rockies game. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Marcus lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Marcus is a worthy recipient of this honor.

November 2014 Knight of the Month-Stan Collins

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Stan Collins the November 2014 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  3rd Degree Knight Stan Collins has provided the Council invaluable service in managing the scheduling of Knights for the Knights of Columbus Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities commonly referred to as “The Tootsie Roll Program”. Brother Stan tirelessly contacted members to ensure that each scheduled Saturday had full support for the 2-hour shifts at the various stores to ensure that Knights can request donations from the general public in order to support organizations providing services to persons with intellectual challenges. Brother Stan not only has ensured that each Knight has the opportunity to support our brothers and sisters with Intellectually Disabilities; he has participated by pulling more than his share of shifts and filling in at the last moment when a scheduled Knight has an emergency and cannot fulfill his commitment. This effort demonstrates that Brother Stan Collins has shown great charity for others and his Brother Knights of Council 9597. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Stan lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, Stan is a worthy recipient of this honor.

October 2014 Knight of the Month-Dale Culuris

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Dale Culuris the October 2014 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward.  He puts forth so much time for the KofC.  He has two roles for our council and as the District Deputy also has to attend other council’s meetings.  He has a unique insight to the movement of the Knights, on a regional and state basis, that most knights don’t have.  He is able to inform us of movements and decisions that we would otherwise be totally unaware of.  He also is a 4th degree which brings the presence of the Knights to the flock.  This shows the support of the knights for the entire Church and our charity toward them all. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Dale lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, Dale is a worthy recipient of this honor.

September 2014 Knight of the Month-Ken Klispie

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Ken Klispie the September 2014 Knight of the Month for a variety of efforts to move our council forward. He played a critical role in the kitchen at our Beer Pairing Dinner, designed and purchased banners to promote council events, has been instrumental in moving forward the council website, is an active recruiter, and contributes to many other council programs. As Recorder he has provided accurate and dependable record keeping. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Ken lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, Ken is a worthy recipient of this honor.

August 2014 Knight of the Month-Dave Schneider

Council 9597 is pleased to name Brother Knight Dave Schneider the August 2014 Knight of the Month for his efforts to coordinate all of the activities related to peaches selling.  It has spanned the communications with the supplier, negotiation of pricing scheme options, facilitating the voting, printing and processing of communications, on-site selling, and financial record keeping.   All the while, he has also maintained account for nearly every other activity that the Council is involved in.  As Program Director he has provided leadership beyond the call of duty. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Dave lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Dave is a worthy recipient of this honor.

July 2014 Knight of the Month-Tom Martinez

Council 9597 is pleased to award Brother Knight Tom Martinez the July 2014 Knight of the Month. His nearly tireless efforts to organize a Beer Pairing Dinner with the council bore generous fruit on June 28th, when our council raised nearly $3500 to help place an ultrasound machine in a Colorado crisis pregnancy center. It was his vision and passion that made the event so successful. Additionally, Brother Martinez has been instrumental in making the council’s monthly breakfasts increasingly popular and profitable. Tom’s dedication to the council extends to serving as Chancellor, and agreeing to continue in that role for the upcoming year. For these reasons, and the countless other ways that Tom lives out our order’s principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity; Tom is a worthy recipient of this honor.
